This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18887038 titled 'METAL-RESIN JOINT AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING METAL-RESIN JOINT

Original Abstract Submitted

A metal-resin joint includes a metal member having a continuous band-shaped resin joined portion on a metal surface, and a resin member joined and fixed to the resin joined portion over the entire periphery in a circumferential direction. The resin joined portion has a continuous band-shaped recess arranged portion in which numerous bowl-shaped recesses are arranged while partially overlapping, and the recess arranged portion includes a continuous band-shaped nano-roughened portion on which high nanocolumns stand numerously, and a non-nano-roughened portion. The resin member is joined to the nano-roughened portion over the entire periphery with a resin material filling gaps between the high nanocolumns standing numerously on the nano-roughened portion.
