A system () includes a controller () with a memory () that stores instructions, and a processor () that executes the instructions. When executed by the processor (), the instructions cause the system () to: automatically gather patient information of a patient; rank clinically validated tests for fluid responsiveness based on the automatically gathered patient information; identify a clinically validated test ranked highest; repeatedly perform the clinically validated test ranked highest to monitor fluid responsiveness of the patient; determine whether to continue performing the clinically validated test ranked highest; and output guidance for performing an alternative clinically validated test based on determining not to continue performing the clinically validated test ranked highest.
