Method and apparatus for 5GS assisted adaptive AI or ML operation are disclosed. In one embodiment, an SMF comprises a processor; and a transceiver coupled to the processor, wherein the processor is configured to: receive, via the transceiver, app assistant information from a NG-RAN node, wherein the app assistant information includes at least one of predicted UL data rate of UE and predicted DL data rate of UE; and transmit, via the transceiver, the app assistant information to an AF.
