ADHESIVE ATTACHMENT FOR ABSORBENT ARTICLE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18744799 titled 'ADHESIVE ATTACHMENT FOR ABSORBENT ARTICLE

Simplified Explanation:

This patent application describes a sanitary absorbent article with a unique adhesive attachment means for securing the article to an undergarment. The article includes a high internal phase emulsion foam absorbent core between the topsheet and backsheet.

  • The sanitary absorbent article has a topsheet, backsheet, and an absorbent core with a high internal phase emulsion foam.
  • The adhesive attachment means, with a rubber-based resin, is used to secure the article to an undergarment.
  • The adhesive attachment means contains a low molecular weight component with specific molecular weight and viscosity characteristics.
  • The low molecular weight component helps enhance the adhesive properties of the attachment means.
  • The article is designed to provide effective and secure attachment to undergarments while maintaining comfort and absorbency.

Potential Applications:

This technology can be used in the manufacturing of sanitary napkins, adult incontinence products, and other absorbent hygiene products that require secure attachment to undergarments.

Problems Solved:

This technology addresses the challenge of ensuring that sanitary absorbent articles stay securely in place during use, preventing leaks and discomfort for the user.

Benefits:

The use of the unique adhesive attachment means in this sanitary absorbent article provides a secure and comfortable fit, enhancing the overall performance of the product.

Commercial Applications:

Potential commercial applications include the production of sanitary napkins, panty liners, adult diapers, and other absorbent hygiene products for the consumer market.

Questions about Sanitary Absorbent Article with Adhesive Attachment Means:

1. How does the low molecular weight component in the adhesive attachment means contribute to the overall performance of the sanitary absorbent article? 2. What are the specific benefits of using a high internal phase emulsion foam in the absorbent core of the article?

Original Abstract Submitted

A sanitary absorbent article having a topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent core comprising a high internal phase emulsion foam disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, and from about 10 gsm to about 50 gsm of an adhesive attachment means disposed on a garment faceable surface of the backsheet for securing the article to an undergarment. The adhesive attachment means includes between about 0% and about 20% of a low molecular weight component, based on the total weight of the adhesive attachment means, wherein the low molecular weight component has a weight average molecular weight of between about 400 and about 700 Daltons and a kinematic viscosity measured at 40° C. of 68 CST. The adhesive attachment means is a rubber based resin.
