Original Abstract Submitted
Method and apparatus for monitoring the operational safety of an imaging system are disclosed. Radiation signals are received directly from one or more radiation detectors. The unattenuated radiation signals and scan metadata data are stored in memory, and time domain analysis and frequency domain analysis is performed on the stored radiation signals. Amplitude and frequency data for all peaks greater than a predetermined Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) from a spectrum derived from the frequency analysis are recorded. The operational safety of the imaging system is monitored according to the recorded amplitude and frequency data. Previously recorded amplitude and frequency data that is written to a data file may be used to compare against currently recorded amplitude and frequency data or may be used to determine threshold values which when exceed by the currently recorded amplitude and frequency data generate a warning and/or automatic stop of an active scan.
