CUT-OFF SAW - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18649374 titled 'CUT-OFF SAW

The abstract describes a patent application for a cut-off saw that includes a housing, a support arm, a cutting wheel, a rear handle, a motor, a battery pack, and a battery receptacle.

  • The support arm extends from the housing and supports the cutting wheel.
  • The rear handle extends from the housing in the opposite direction.
  • The motor is housed within the housing and is powered by the battery pack.
  • The battery pack is positioned between the cutting wheel and the rear handle.
  • A battery receptacle is defined by the housing to receive the battery pack.
  • A battery cover is moveable between open and closed positions to access the battery pack.

Potential Applications: - Construction sites - Metalworking shops - Woodworking workshops

Problems Solved: - Portable power source for cutting tools - Easy access to battery pack for maintenance

Benefits: - Increased portability - Convenient battery access - Efficient power source

Commercial Applications: Title: "Innovative Cut-Off Saw for Construction and Metalworking Industries" This technology can be used in various industries such as construction, metalworking, and woodworking for efficient cutting operations.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the positioning of the battery pack between the cutting wheel and the rear handle improve the functionality of the cut-off saw? 2. What are the advantages of having a moveable battery cover for accessing the battery pack in the cut-off saw design?

Original Abstract Submitted

A cut-off saw including a housing, a support arm coupled to and extending from the housing in a first direction, a cutting wheel supported by the support arm, a rear handle extending from the housing in an opposite, second direction, a motor disposed in the housing, a battery pack configured to power the motor, and a battery receptacle defined by the housing in which the battery pack is receivable. The battery pack is positioned between the cutting wheel and the rear handle. The cut-off saw also includes a battery cover coupled to the housing. The battery cover is selectively moveable between a closed position, in which the battery pack is enclosed by the battery receptacle and the cover, and an open position, in which the battery pack is accessible.
