Disclosed are methods, systems, and computer-readable medium to perform operations including detecting a reception opportunity of a physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) scheduled to be transmitted by a transmitter, where the PPDU includes a preamble and one or more media access control (MAC) PDUs (MPDUs); decoding the preamble of the PPDU; detecting that reception of the one or more MPDUs has failed; and in response to the detecting, preparing a Negative Acknowledgment (NACK) message for transmission to the transmitter.
