An image forming apparatus () includes: a USB connector () capable of being connected through a cable to a terminal device (); a FIFO (); and a control device () capable of functioning as a controller () that selectively executes one of a normal mode and a power-save mode. When receiving data sent through the cable from the terminal device () while executing the power-save mode, the controller () temporarily stores the data in the FIFO () to temporarily hold execution of processing according to the data, checks for the data stored in the FIFO () at predetermined second-scale time intervals, and executes the processing based on the data.
