USER-CONTROLLABLE ENDOTRACHEAL TUBE STYLET - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18570479 titled 'USER-CONTROLLABLE ENDOTRACHEAL TUBE STYLET

The abstract describes articulatable endotracheal tube stylet devices, systems, and methods for endotracheal intubation and interrogation.

  • The endotracheal tube stylet apparatus includes a housing, a handle with a lever arm, a staple shaft, and an articulation mechanism.
  • The articulation mechanism extends from the housing through an aperture of the staple shaft and bends upon control by movement of the lever arm of the handle.

Potential Applications:

  • Medical procedures requiring endotracheal intubation.
  • Emergency medicine and critical care settings.
  • Training programs for healthcare professionals.

Problems Solved:

  • Facilitates easier and more precise endotracheal intubation.
  • Allows for better visualization and control during intubation procedures.

Benefits:

  • Improved success rates in endotracheal intubation.
  • Enhanced patient safety and comfort.
  • Streamlined intubation procedures for healthcare providers.

Commercial Applications:

  • Medical device companies can manufacture and sell these articulatable endotracheal tube stylet devices.
  • Hospitals and healthcare facilities can incorporate this technology into their standard intubation protocols.

Questions about Articulatable Endotracheal Tube Stylet Devices: 1. How does the articulation mechanism improve the process of endotracheal intubation? 2. What are the potential complications that can be avoided with the use of this device?

Frequently Updated Research: Ongoing studies may focus on the efficacy and long-term outcomes of using articulatable endotracheal tube stylet devices in various clinical settings.

Original Abstract Submitted

Disclosed are articulatable endotracheal tube stylet devices. systems and methods for endotracheal intubation and interrogation. In some aspects. an endotracheal tube stylet apparatus includes a housing: a handle comprising a lever arm that is coupled to the housing: a staple shaft that is coupled to the housing: and an articulation mechanism that extends from the housing through and out of an aperture of the staple shaft and operable to bend upon control by movement of the lever arm of the handle.
