ZERO-KNOWLEDGE SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENT (SLA) MONITORING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18557495 titled 'ZERO-KNOWLEDGE SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENT (SLA) MONITORING

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a method for a computing system to verify the validity of a Service Level Agreement (SLA) fulfillment status reported by an SLA monitoring agent.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Verifying proof of SLA fulfillment status using manipulation detection codes, measurements, and a verification key.
  • Determining the validity of measurements by checking for matching manipulation detection codes in distributed ledger attestations.
  • Confirming the validity of the SLA fulfillment status when the proof is successfully verified and measurements are valid.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in various industries where SLAs are crucial, such as cloud computing, telecommunications, and IT services.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the challenge of ensuring the accuracy and reliability of SLA fulfillment status reports, which are essential for maintaining trust between service providers and clients.

Benefits:

  • Enhances transparency and trust in SLA monitoring processes.
  • Reduces the risk of inaccurate or manipulated SLA fulfillment status reports.
  • Improves overall service quality and customer satisfaction.

Commercial Applications: Potential commercial applications include offering SLA monitoring services to businesses, developing software tools for automated SLA verification, and providing consulting services for SLA management.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method by a computing system implementing a service level agreement (SLA) monitoring client to determine whether a SLA fulfillment status reported by a SLA monitoring agent is valid. The method includes verifying a proof of SLA fulfillment status based on manipulation detection codes of measurements, a SLA fulfillment status, and a verification key, determining whether the measurements are valid based on whether the distributed ledger includes measurement attestations having manipulation detection codes matching the manipulation detection codes of the measurements, and determining that the SLA fulfillment status is valid in response to successfully verifying the proof of SLA fulfillment status and determining that the measurements are valid.
