MECHANISM FOR CONFIGURED GRANT TRANSMISSION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18553242 titled 'MECHANISM FOR CONFIGURED GRANT TRANSMISSION

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a mechanism for determining the validity of timing advances and the applicability of validity conditions for small data transmissions in subsequent communication occasions.

  • The first device checks if a timing advance is valid for the small data transmission.
  • It also determines if the evaluation of a validity condition is applicable for the transmission.
  • If both conditions are met, the small data transmission is performed in the subsequent communication occasion.

What are the key benefits of the mechanism described in the patent application?

The mechanism provides improved efficiency in data transmission, reduced delays, and enhanced network performance.

How does the mechanism help in avoiding failures in small data transmissions?

By determining the validity of timing advances and evaluating validity conditions in advance, the mechanism ensures that small data transmissions are performed successfully in subsequent communication occasions.

Original Abstract Submitted

Mechanism on configured grant transmissions is provided. If a small data transmission is needed, a first device determines whether a timing advance is valid in a subsequent CG occasion for the small data transmission. The first device also determines whether an evaluation of a validity condition is applicable in the subsequent CG occasion for the small data transmission. If the timing advance is valid and the evaluation is applicable, the first device performs the small data transmission in the subsequent CG occasion. In this way, the first device is able to perform the evaluation of the validity condition in advance, thereby reducing delays and avoiding failures.
