IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18517907 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
Simplified Explanation
The image forming apparatus described in the patent application includes a sheet feeding cassette with a lift plate, lock member, and biasing member to control the movement of the lift plate. The lock member can be manually moved between a lock position and a release position, allowing for easy attachment and detachment of the cassette.
- Lift plate supported in a turnable manner
- Lock member movable between lock and release positions
- Biasing member biases lock member to lock position
- Lock member positioned at lock position when cassette is not attached
- Lock member movable by hand to lock or release position when cassette is attached
Potential Applications
The technology described in this patent application could be applied in various image forming devices such as printers, copiers, and scanners to improve the efficiency of sheet feeding mechanisms.
Problems Solved
This technology solves the problem of securely attaching and detaching a sheet feeding cassette to an image forming apparatus while allowing for easy manual operation of the lock mechanism.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include improved user experience, increased efficiency in loading and unloading paper, and reduced risk of jams or misfeeds in the image forming process.
Potential Commercial Applications
The technology could be commercialized by manufacturers of image forming devices looking to enhance the functionality and user-friendliness of their products.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art for this technology could be similar mechanisms used in other sheet feeding devices or paper handling systems in the field of office equipment.
Unanswered Questions
How does this technology compare to existing sheet feeding mechanisms in terms of reliability and ease of use?
This article does not provide a direct comparison with existing sheet feeding mechanisms, so it is unclear how this technology stacks up against current solutions in the market.
Are there any potential drawbacks or limitations to implementing this technology in image forming devices?
The article does not mention any drawbacks or limitations of the technology, leaving room for further exploration of potential challenges in practical implementation.
Original Abstract Submitted
An image forming apparatus includes an attachment part and a sheet feeding cassette attached to the attachment part. The sheet feeding cassette includes a cassette main body, a lift plate, a lock member and a biasing member. The lift plate is supported in a turnable manner. The lock member is movable between a lock position where a turning of the lift plate is restricted and a release position where the turning of the lift plate is permitted. The biasing member biases the lock member to the lock position. In a state where the sheet feeding cassette is not attached to the attachment part, the lock member is biased by the biasing member to be positioned at the lock position. In a state where the sheet feeding cassette is attached to the attachment part, the lock member is movable either to the lock position or the release position by hand.
