Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration associated with an orthogonal cover code (OCC), wherein the configuration indicates a multiplexing order, an OCC codeword for multiplexing, and a type of OCC, and the type of OCC is one of: frequency domain OCC (FD-OCC), time domain OCC (TD-OCC), sub physical resource block (sub-PRB) OCC, or sub-slot OCC. The UE may apply, based at least in part on the configuration, the OCC to an uplink transmission. The UE may transmit the uplink transmission with the OCC applied based at least in part on the configuration. Numerous other aspects are described.
