APPARATUS, METHOD, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18440406 titled 'APPARATUS, METHOD, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM
Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a method, computer program, and apparatus for managing timing advance values in a cellular network to optimize uplink transmissions.
- Establishing a connection with a user equipment via a serving cell supported by a first access node.
- Instructing the user equipment to obtain a timing advance value for a target cell supported by a second access node.
- Receiving an indication from the second access node that the timing advance value is invalid.
- Determining whether to instruct the user equipment to obtain a new timing advance value based on the received indication.
Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in cellular networks to improve the efficiency of uplink transmissions and enhance overall network performance.
Problems Solved: - Managing timing advance values for optimal uplink transmission in a cellular network. - Ensuring that user equipment transmits data to the target cell at the right timing.
Benefits: - Enhanced network performance and efficiency. - Improved quality of service for users. - Better utilization of network resources.
Commercial Applications: Optimizing uplink transmissions in cellular networks can benefit telecommunications companies, network operators, and equipment manufacturers by improving network performance and user experience.
Questions about the Technology: 1. How does this technology improve the overall efficiency of uplink transmissions in cellular networks? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this method on a large scale in a real-world network environment?
Original Abstract Submitted
There is provided a method, computer program, and apparatus for causing an apparatus for a first access node to perform: establishing a connection towards a user equipment via a serving cell supported by the first access node; instructing the user equipment to obtain a first timing advance value for a target cell supported by a second access node, wherein the first timing advance value indicates a timing for transmitting uplink transmissions to the target cell; receiving, from the second access node, an indication that the first timing advance value is or will soon be invalid; and determining whether to instruct the user equipment to obtain a second timing advance value for the target cell in dependence on the received indication, the second timing advance value being obtained later in time than the first timing advance value.
