TISSUE SAMPLE DEVICE AND METHODS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18410459 titled 'TISSUE SAMPLE DEVICE AND METHODS

Simplified Explanation:

This patent application describes a tissue collection system for obtaining samples from the body. The system includes an outer tubular member with a lumen, an inner tubular member slidably disposed within the outer member, and an expandable tissue collection device at the distal end of the inner tubular member.

  • The system consists of an outer tubular member and an inner tubular member with a tissue collection device.
  • The outer tubular member has a lumen that extends from the proximal end to the distal end.
  • The inner tubular member also has a lumen that runs from its proximal end to its distal end.
  • The tissue collection device is expandable and located near the distal end of the inner tubular member.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Dual tubular design for tissue collection.
  • Expandable tissue collection device for efficient sampling.
  • Slidable inner tubular member for precise sample collection.

Potential Applications:

  • Medical diagnostics and research.
  • Biopsy procedures.
  • Tissue sampling for genetic testing.

Problems Solved:

  • Invasive tissue collection methods.
  • Inefficient sample collection.
  • Lack of precision in sampling.

Benefits:

  • Improved accuracy in sample collection.
  • Minimally invasive procedure.
  • Enhanced efficiency in tissue sampling.

Commercial Applications:

The tissue collection system has potential applications in medical diagnostics, research laboratories, and healthcare facilities. It can be used for biopsy procedures, genetic testing, and other tissue sampling applications. The system's innovative design allows for precise and efficient sample collection, making it a valuable tool in the field of medicine.

Questions about Tissue Collection System:

1. How does the expandable tissue collection device work? 2. What are the advantages of using a dual tubular design for tissue sampling?

Original Abstract Submitted

A tissue collection system for collection a sample from the body. The system may include an outer tubular member having a proximal end region and a distal end region and defining a lumen extending from the proximal end region to the distal end region, an inner tubular member slidably disposed within the lumen of the outer tubular member, the inner tubular member defining a lumen extending from a proximal end region to a distal end region of the inner tubular member and an expandable tissue collection device disposed adjacent to the distal end region of the inner tubular member.
