PROJECTOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18393817 titled 'PROJECTOR

The abstract describes a projector system that includes a light source, a Fresnel lens group, polarizers, a light modulator, and a projection lens to form a projection image.

  • The projector system utilizes a Fresnel lens group to parallelize the beam output from the light source.
  • A light-incident-side polarizer transmits the beam after it exits the Fresnel lens group.
  • A light modulator modulates the beam to create the projection image.
  • A light-exiting-side polarizer transmits the modulated beam.
  • The system includes a first Fresnel lens with positive power closest to the light source and a second Fresnel lens with positive power shifted towards the light modulator.
  • The first Fresnel lens has a Fresnel surface on the light incident side and no Fresnel surface on the light exiting side.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in home theater systems, conference rooms, and educational settings for high-quality image projection. - It can also be applied in digital signage, advertising displays, and entertainment venues for large-scale projections.

Problems Solved: - The system addresses the need for efficient and high-quality image projection in various settings. - It solves the challenge of beam parallelization and modulation for clear and sharp projection images.

Benefits: - Improved image quality and clarity in projection systems. - Enhanced efficiency and performance in projecting images. - Versatile applications in different environments and settings.

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Projection System for Enhanced Image Quality This technology can be commercialized for use in theaters, auditoriums, museums, and other venues requiring high-quality projection systems. It can also be marketed to businesses for conference room displays and digital signage solutions.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the use of a Fresnel lens group improve the performance of the projector system? 2. What are the key advantages of incorporating polarizers in the projection setup?

Original Abstract Submitted

A projector includes a light source, a Fresnel lens group parallelizing the beam output from the light source, a light-incident-side polarizer transmitting the beam having exited out of the Fresnel lens group, a light modulator modulating the beam having passed through the light-incident-side polarizer to form a projection image, a light-exiting-side polarizer transmitting the beam modulated by the light modulator, and a projection lens projecting the beam having passed through the light-exiting-side polarizer. The Fresnel lens group includes a first Fresnel lens having positive power and disposed at a position closest to the light source in the Fresnel lens group, and a second Fresnel lens having positive power and disposed at a position shifted from the first Fresnel lens toward the light modulator. The light incident surface of the first Fresnel lens has a Fresnel surface. The light exiting surface of the first Fresnel lens has no Fresnel surface.
