EFFICIENT CONTROL AND/OR LINKING OF SMART DEVICES - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18379003 titled 'EFFICIENT CONTROL AND/OR LINKING OF SMART DEVICES
Simplified Explanation
The patent application is about efficient control and linking of smart network connected devices. It describes a system that allows control of multiple smart devices from multiple parties through an interactive graphical interface and deeplinking to third-party applications for additional information. The system also efficiently adds third-party smart devices to the smart device topology when a third-party application is installed but not present in the topology.
- The system enables control of smart devices from multiple parties through a graphical interface and deeplinking.
- It allows users to interact with a graphical element to control third-party smart devices.
- Users can select an element to open a third-party application with additional information about the smart devices.
- The system efficiently adds third-party smart devices to the smart device topology when a third-party application is installed but not present in the topology.
Potential applications of this technology:
- Smart home automation systems
- Industrial IoT networks
- Building management systems
Problems solved by this technology:
- Efficient control and linking of smart devices from multiple parties

- Efficient integration of third-party applications and smart devices
Original Abstract Submitted
Efficient control and/or linking of smart network connected devices. Some implementations are directed to rendering, within an active application that enables control of multiple smart devices from multiple parties, both: (1) an interactive graphical interface element that, when interacted with, causes corresponding control of smart device(s) of a third-party (3P); and (2) a selectable element that, when selected, causes execution of a deeplink to cause a 3P application to open in a state that presents additional information for the smart device(s). Some implementations are additionally or alternatively directed to, in response to determining that a 3P application is installed at a client device, but a smart device topology lacks any entries for 3P smart devices of the 3P, efficiently adding one or more particular smart devices of the 3P to the smart device topology.
