OLEFIN-BASED POLYMER COMPOSITION AND FILM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18282050 titled 'OLEFIN-BASED POLYMER COMPOSITION AND FILM

The abstract describes an olefin-based polymer composition that can form a film with low-temperature heat-sealing properties and good anti-blocking characteristics.

  • The olefin-based polymer composition contains an olefin-based polymer and meets specific requirements related to temperature gradient interaction chromatography, cold xylene soluble component amount, and melting point.
  • The elution amount of the composition at 70°C to 95°C is between 10.0% to 28.0% based on the total elution amount measured up to 160°C.
  • The amount of cold xylene soluble component in the composition is 20.0% or less.
  • The melting point of the olefin-based polymer composition is 150°C or lower.

Potential Applications: - Packaging materials - Food packaging - Industrial films

Problems Solved: - Improving heat-sealing properties at low temperatures - Enhancing anti-blocking properties in films

Benefits: - Increased efficiency in packaging processes - Improved film quality - Cost-effective solution for packaging industry

Commercial Applications: Title: "Innovative Olefin-Based Polymer Composition for Enhanced Film Properties" This technology can be used in various industries such as food packaging, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing for producing high-quality films with improved heat-sealing and anti-blocking properties.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the olefin-based polymer composition improve heat-sealing properties at low temperatures? 2. What are the specific benefits of using this composition in food packaging applications?

Original Abstract Submitted

An olefin-based polymer composition capable of forming a film that can be heat-sealed at a relatively low temperature and having good anti-blocking property in the film and a film containing the olefin-based polymer composition are provided. The olefin-based polymer composition contains an olefin-based polymer and satisfies the following requirements (1) to (3): (1): in temperature gradient interaction chromatography of the olefin-based polymer composition measured using a gel permeation chromatograph equipped with a graphite-packed column, an elution amount measured at 70° C. to 95° C. is 10.0 mass % to 28.0 mass % based on 100 mass % of an elution amount measured up to 160° C., (2): an amount of a cold xylene soluble component is 20.0 mass % or less, and (3): a melting point of the olefin-based polymer composition is 150° C. or lower.
