DUAL-SIDED ADHESIVE TAPES WITH ON-DEMAND ADHESION - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18268289 titled 'DUAL-SIDED ADHESIVE TAPES WITH ON-DEMAND ADHESION
The abstract of the patent application describes an adhesive on demand article that includes a layer of adhesive and a backing layer with cuts that are not visible to the naked eye in an unstressed state but become visible in a stressed state, allowing adhesion to a substrate surface.
- The adhesive on demand article consists of a layer of adhesive and a backing layer with hidden cuts that become visible under stress.
- The cuts in the backing layer allow the adhesive to adhere to a substrate surface when the article is in a stressed state.
- The hidden cuts in the backing layer ensure that the gaps are not visible in an unstressed state, providing a discreet adhesion solution.
- This innovation allows for controlled adhesion on demand, providing a versatile solution for various applications.
- The technology offers a unique way to achieve adhesion only when needed, reducing waste and improving efficiency.
Potential Applications: - Medical devices - Automotive industry - Electronics manufacturing - Packaging industry
Problems Solved: - Controlled adhesion - Discreet and versatile adhesion solution - Reduced waste and improved efficiency
Benefits: - On-demand adhesion - Versatile applications - Improved efficiency and reduced waste
Commercial Applications: Title: Innovative Adhesive on Demand Technology for Various Industries This technology can be used in medical devices, automotive applications, electronics manufacturing, and the packaging industry, providing a discreet and efficient adhesion solution for various commercial applications.
Questions about Adhesive on Demand Technology: 1. How does the hidden cuts in the backing layer allow for controlled adhesion?
- The hidden cuts in the backing layer become visible under stress, allowing the adhesive to adhere to a substrate surface when needed.
2. What are the potential applications of this technology in different industries?
- This technology can be applied in medical devices, automotive industry, electronics manufacturing, and packaging industry, providing a versatile adhesion solution.
Original Abstract Submitted
Adhesion on demand articles include a layer of adhesive and a backing layer in contact with the adhesive layer. The backing layer includes a plurality of cuts, where the plurality of cuts are gaps but the gaps are not visible to the naked eye when the adhesive article is in an unstressed state, but in a stressed state, at least some of the cuts become gaps that permit adhesion of the first major surface of the adhesive layer to a substrate surface.
