POSITIONING METHOD AND DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18261962 titled 'POSITIONING METHOD AND DEVICE
Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a method and device for positioning a terminal using information from another terminal with a location service function.
- The method involves obtaining terminal information from a second terminal with a location service function.
- The first terminal interacts with the second terminal through direct communication to obtain its location information.
- This allows the second terminal to assist in positioning the first terminal even when it is not in a network coverage area.
Key Features and Innovation:
- Positioning method using information from a second terminal with a location service function.
- Direct communication link between terminals for obtaining location information.
- Assistance in positioning even when the first terminal is out of network coverage.
Potential Applications: The technology can be used in various applications such as navigation systems, tracking devices, and emergency services.
Problems Solved: The technology addresses the issue of positioning terminals in areas without network coverage.
Benefits:
- Improved accuracy in terminal positioning.
- Enhanced reliability in obtaining location information.
- Increased efficiency in navigation and tracking.
Commercial Applications: The technology can be applied in GPS devices, mobile phones, IoT devices, and other location-based services to enhance their functionality and performance.
Questions about Positioning Method: 1. How does the direct communication link between terminals improve the positioning accuracy? 2. What are the limitations of using another terminal for assisting in positioning?
Frequently Updated Research: Research on improving the efficiency and accuracy of terminal positioning methods using direct communication and location service functions is ongoing in the field of telecommunications and navigation technologies.
Original Abstract Submitted
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a positioning method and device. The positioning method applied to the first terminal includes: obtaining terminal information of a second terminal with a location service function; and interacting with the second terminal through a direct communication link to obtain location information of the first terminal. In this way, in the embodiments of the present disclosure, even if the first terminal is not in a network coverage area, the second terminal with the location service function may assist the first terminal in positioning.
