POSITIONING TIME GAP SCHEDULING FOR NON-TERRESTRIAL COMMUNICATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18258385 titled 'POSITIONING TIME GAP SCHEDULING FOR NON-TERRESTRIAL COMMUNICATION
The patent application relates to providing a positioning time gap in a paging procedure for devices with positioning capability.
- The apparatus obtains positioning capability information of a device, including time periods for determining the device's position with initial positioning data.
- A positioning time gap is determined based on the device's positioning capability information.
- The apparatus transmits a first signal but refrains from transmitting a second signal for at least the duration of the positioning time gap.
Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in location-based services to improve the accuracy of device positioning. - It can enhance the efficiency of paging procedures in wireless communication systems.
Problems Solved: - Addresses the need for optimizing the timing of signals in device positioning procedures. - Improves the overall performance of location-based services by reducing signal interference.
Benefits: - Enhanced accuracy in determining device location. - Improved efficiency in wireless communication systems. - Reduced signal interference for better overall performance.
Commercial Applications: - This technology can be applied in industries such as telecommunications, IoT, and navigation systems to enhance location-based services and communication efficiency.
Questions about the technology: 1. How does the positioning time gap improve the accuracy of device positioning? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this technology in wireless communication systems?

Original Abstract Submitted
Various example embodiments relate to provision of a positioning time gap in a paging procedure. An apparatus may obtain positioning capability information of a device. The positioning capability information may comprise an indication of a first time period for determining a position of the device with first initial positioning data and an indication of a second time period for determining the position of the device with second initial positioning data. A positioning time gap may be determined based on the positioning capability information of the device. The apparatus may transmit a first signal, but refrain from transmitting a second signal for at least a duration of the positioning time gap from the first signal. Apparatuses, methods, and computer programs are disclosed.
