FIT PREDICTION BASED ON FEATURE DETECTION IN IMAGE DATA - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18157498 titled 'FIT PREDICTION BASED ON FEATURE DETECTION IN IMAGE DATA
Simplified Explanation:
This patent application describes a system and method for predicting the fit of a wearable device using image data captured by a computing device, along with the position and orientation of the computing device.
- The system captures a series of frames of image data and detects fixed features within them.
- Position and orientation data of the computing device is combined with the fixed features to extract depth data from the image frames.
- A three-dimensional model is generated based on the extracted depth data.
- The three-dimensional model is processed by a simulator and/or a machine learning model to predict the fit of the wearable device for the user.
Key Features and Innovation:
- Predicting fit of a wearable device using image data and computing device position/orientation.
- Extracting depth data from image frames to create a three-dimensional model.
- Utilizing a simulator and/or machine learning model to predict fit based on the three-dimensional model.

Original Abstract Submitted
A system and method of predicting fit of a wearable device from image data obtained by a computing device together with position and orientation of the computing device is provided. The system and method may include capturing a series of frames of image data, and detecting one or more fixed features in the series of frames of image data. Position and orientation data associated with the capture of the image data is combined with the position data related to the one or more fixed features, to extract depth data from the series of frames of image data. A three-dimensional model of is generated based on the extracted depth data. The three-dimensional model is processed by a simulator and/or a machine learning model to predict fit of the wearable device for the user.
