SMART LED DRIVER SOLUTION FOR DYNAMIC LED CHAIN - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18151997 titled 'SMART LED DRIVER SOLUTION FOR DYNAMIC LED CHAIN

The circuitry described in the patent application is designed to provide an adjustable discharge current to a compensation node of a power converter that supplies a load. This allows for the acceleration of power delivery to the load upon reaching a new steady state condition, all while maintaining the stable response time of the power converter.

  • The circuit includes a driver circuit that measures current to the load and offers overshoot protection for the load.
  • Overshoot protection involves generating a pattern of detectable square wave pulses.
  • The discharge current is adjusted based on the duration and pulse density of the pulses in the pattern.

Potential Applications: - Power converters in various electronic devices - Renewable energy systems - Electric vehicles

Problems Solved: - Accelerating power delivery to loads without compromising stability - Providing overshoot protection for loads

Original Abstract Submitted

Circuitry configured to deliver an adjustable discharge current to a compensation node of a power converter that supplies a load, which may speed up the power to the load on the new steady state condition, while maintaining the stable response time of the power converter. A driver circuit may measure current to the load and perform overshoot protection for the load. The overshoot protection may also generate a pattern of detectable square wave pulses. The circuitry of this disclosure may adjust the discharge current based on a duration of the pulses in the pattern of pulses, as well as based on a pulse density of the pulses.
