DISPLAY PANEL AND DISPLAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18016846 titled 'DISPLAY PANEL AND DISPLAY APPARATUS

The abstract describes a display panel with a curved boundary between the display region and non-display region, containing pixels with sub-pixels, some of which have non-rectangular shapes near the curve.

  • Display panel with curved boundary between display and non-display regions
  • Pixels with sub-pixels, some with non-rectangular shapes near the curve
  • Enhanced design for improved display quality and aesthetics
  • Potential for increased pixel density and resolution
  • Innovation in display technology for various applications

Potential Applications: - High-resolution displays in smartphones, tablets, and TVs - Virtual reality and augmented reality headsets - Medical imaging devices - Automotive displays - Gaming monitors

Problems Solved: - Improved display quality near curved boundaries - Enhanced visual experience for users - Increased pixel density without sacrificing image clarity

Benefits: - Sharper images and text on curved displays - Enhanced viewing experience for users - Greater design flexibility for display manufacturers

Commercial Applications: Title: "Curved Display Panels: Revolutionizing Visual Technology" This technology can be utilized in various commercial products such as smartphones, tablets, TVs, and other electronic devices. The market implications include improved display quality, increased consumer interest, and potential for new product development in the electronics industry.

Questions about Curved Display Panels: 1. How does the curved boundary in the display panel impact image quality?

  - The curved boundary enhances the visual experience by allowing for non-rectangular pixel shapes near the curve, resulting in sharper images and text.

2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this technology in different devices?

  - Implementing this technology in various devices may require adjustments in manufacturing processes and design considerations to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.

Original Abstract Submitted

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a display panel and a display apparatus. The display panel includes: a display region and at least one non-display region adjacent to the display region; a boundary between the at least one non-display region and the display region has a curve part; the display panel includes pixels, including first pixels and second pixels; the pixels include sub-pixels; each first pixel includes: at least one first sub-pixel opening region corresponding to at least one sub-pixel and located in the display region, at least one first sub-pixel opening region in each first pixel is adjacent to the curve part, and a shape of at least part of the at least one first sub-pixel opening region adjacent to the curve part is non-rectangular; and each second pixel is located in the display region, each second pixel includes a second sub-pixel opening region corresponding to a sub-pixel.
