DYNAMIC PER-BEAM SYNCHRONIZATION SIGNAL PERIODICITY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17884664 titled 'DYNAMIC PER-BEAM SYNCHRONIZATION SIGNAL PERIODICITY

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications, specifically focusing on per-beam synchronization signal block (SSB) periodicity configurations within a wireless communications network.

  • A network entity can transmit a first SSB associated with a cell using a first beam, which includes a broadcast channel indicating a first periodicity for transmission of the first SSB.
  • The network entity can also transmit a second SSB associated with the same cell using a second beam, which includes a broadcast channel indicating a different second periodicity for transmission of the second SSB.

Potential Applications:

  • 5G and future wireless communication networks
  • Beamforming technology in wireless communications

Problems Solved:

  • Efficient synchronization and signal transmission in wireless networks
  • Optimization of network resources and bandwidth utilization

Benefits:

  • Improved network performance and reliability
  • Enhanced coverage and capacity in wireless communication systems
  • Better support for high-speed data transmission and low-latency applications

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some implementations, a wireless communications network may support per-beam synchronization signal block (SSB) periodicity configurations. A network entity may transmit, using a first beam, a first SSB associated with a cell supported by the network entity. The first SSB may include a first broadcast channel that indicates a first periodicity for transmission of the first SSB associated using the first beam. In addition, the network entity may transmit, using a second beam, a second SSB associated with the cell supported by the network entity. The second SSB may include a second broadcast channel that indicates a second periodicity for transmission of the second SSB associated with the cell using the second beam. In such cases, the second periodicity may be different from the first periodicity.
