DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17837708 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display device that includes sub-pixels, a bank, a wavelength control layer, a color filter layer, and light emitting element layers.

  • The display device has sub-pixels and a bank that separates them.
  • A wavelength control layer is placed within the bank and includes wavelength conversion layers and a light transmitting layer.
  • A color filter layer is placed on top of the wavelength control layer.
  • Light emitting element layers are positioned between the substrate and the wavelength control layer.
  • The light emitting element layers contain a light emitting element in one of the sub-pixels and connection electrodes connected to the ends of the light emitting element.
  • Each of the wavelength conversion layers makes contact with at least one of the connection electrodes.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Display devices such as televisions, computer monitors, and smartphones could benefit from this technology.
  • The improved color accuracy and efficiency of the display could enhance the viewing experience for users.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The wavelength control layer and color filter layer help to improve color accuracy and reduce color bleeding in the display.
  • The connection electrodes ensure proper functioning of the light emitting element.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced color accuracy and reduced color bleeding result in improved image quality.
  • The use of connection electrodes ensures reliable operation of the light emitting element.
  • The overall design of the display device allows for efficient and effective control of light emission.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device comprises sub-pixels, a bank disposed on a substrate and disposed at a boundary between the sub-pixels, a wavelength control layer including wavelength conversion layers disposed in a region surrounded by the bank and a light transmitting layer disposed in the sub-pixels, a color filter layer disposed on the wavelength control layer, and light emitting element layers disposed between the substrate and the wavelength control layer, the light emitting layers including a light emitting element disposed in one of the sub-pixels, and connection electrodes connected to ends of the light emitting element. Each of the wavelength conversion layers contacts at least one of the connection electrodes
