Patent Applications by Waymo LLC

20240278802. PREDICTABILITY-BASED AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE TRAJECTORY ASSESSMENTS_simplified_abstract_(waymo llc)

Inventor(s): Khaled Refaat of Mountain View CA (US) for waymo llc, Haoyu Chen of Santa Clara CA (US) for waymo llc, Wei Chai of Cupertino CA (US) for waymo llc, Alisha Saxena of Bellevue WA (US) for waymo llc

IPC Code(s): B60W60/00, G06F18/214, G06F18/2415, G06N3/08, G06V20/56

CPC Code(s): B60W60/001

Abstract: data representing a set of predicted trajectories and a planned trajectory for an autonomous vehicle is obtained. a predictability score for the planned trajectory can be determined based on a comparison of the planned trajectory to the set of predicted trajectories for the autonomous vehicle. the predictability score indicates a level of predictability of the planned trajectory. a determination can be made, based at least on the predictability score, whether to initiate travel with the autonomous vehicle along the planned trajectory. in response to determining to initiate travel with the autonomous vehicle along the planned trajectory, a control system can be directed to maneuver the autonomous vehicle along the planned trajectory.

IPC Code(s): B60W60/00, G06N3/02

CPC Code(s): B60W60/001

Abstract: methods, computer systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for predicting future trajectories for an agent in an environment. a system obtains scene context data characterizing the environment. the scene context data includes data that characterizes a trajectory of an agent in a vicinity of a vehicle in an environment up to a current time point. the system identifies a plurality of initial target locations in the environment. the system further generates, for each of a plurality of target locations that each corresponds to one of the initial target locations, a respective predicted likelihood score that represents a likelihood that the target location will be an intended final location for a future trajectory of the agent starting from the current time point. for each target location in a first subset of the target locations, the system generates a predicted future trajectory for the agent that is a prediction of the future trajectory of the agent given that the target location is the intended final location for the future trajectory. the system further selects, as likely future trajectories of the agent starting from the current time point, one or more of the predicted future trajectories.

20240281575. HIGH FIDELITY SIMULATIONS FOR AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES BASED ON RETRO-REFLECTION METROLOGY_simplified_abstract_(waymo llc)

Inventor(s): Arthur Dov Safira of Los Altos CA (US) for waymo llc, Harrison Lee McKenzie Chapter of Santa Clara CA (US) for waymo llc, Colin Andrew Braley of Mountain View CA (US) for waymo llc, Hui Seong Son of Hayward CA (US) for waymo llc, Aleksandar Rumenov Gabrovski of Mountain View CA (US) for waymo llc, Brian Choung Choi of Sunnyvale CA (US) for waymo llc

IPC Code(s): G06F30/20, B60W50/00, B60W60/00, G01S17/10, G01S17/89

CPC Code(s): G06F30/20

Abstract: aspects and implementations of the present disclosure address shortcomings of existing technology by enabling autonomous vehicle simulations based on retro-reflection optical data. the subject matter of this specification can be implemented in, among other things, a method that involves initiating a simulation of an environment of an autonomous driving vehicle, the simulation including a plurality of simulated objects, each having an identification of a material type of the respective object. the method can further involve accessing simulated reflection data based on the plurality of simulated objects and retro-reflectivity data for the material types of the simulated objects, and determining, using an autonomous vehicle control system for the autonomous vehicle, a driving path relative to the simulated objects, the driving path based on the simulated reflection data.
