BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240317073 titled 'BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a battery electric vehicle with a mode selection device that allows the driver to choose between a motor travel mode and a shift travel mode. The control device manages the motor based on the selected mode, with a specific focus on maintaining simulation torque in the shift travel mode.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Mode selection device for choosing travel modes.
  • Motor travel mode for outputting required torque to the drive shaft.
  • Shift travel mode for simulating torque behavior of an engine vehicle with a stepped transmission.
  • Control device to manage motor operation based on selected travel mode.
  • Prohibition of changing simulation torque in the shift travel mode while the vehicle is in motion.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in the development of advanced electric vehicles, particularly in enhancing the driving experience by simulating the torque behavior of traditional engine vehicles.

Problems Solved: The technology addresses the challenge of providing a familiar driving experience for users transitioning from traditional engine vehicles to electric vehicles.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced driving experience for users.
  • Seamless transition for drivers accustomed to engine vehicles.
  • Efficient management of motor operation based on selected travel mode.

Commercial Applications: The technology can be utilized by electric vehicle manufacturers to create models that appeal to a wider range of consumers, particularly those who prefer the feel of traditional engine vehicles.

Prior Art: Readers interested in exploring prior art related to this technology can start by researching patents in the field of electric vehicle control systems and simulation technologies.

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on advancements in electric vehicle technology, particularly in the areas of motor control systems and simulation techniques.

Questions about Battery Electric Vehicle Technology: 1. How does the simulation torque in the shift travel mode enhance the driving experience for users? 2. What are the potential implications of this technology on the electric vehicle market in the future?

Original Abstract Submitted

a battery electric vehicle includes: a mode selection device in which one travel mode is selected from a plurality of travel modes by an operation of a driver, the travel modes including a motor travel mode in which a motor is controlled such that required torque required for traveling is output to a drive shaft, and a shift travel mode in which the motor is controlled such that torque output to the drive shaft based on a shift operation by the driver is simulation torque that simulates torque behavior in an engine vehicle equipped with an engine and a stepped transmission; and a control device that controls the motor such that the battery electric vehicle travels in the travel mode selected by the mode selection device. the control device prohibits a change in the simulation torque while the battery electric vehicle is traveling, when the shift travel mode is selected.
