CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240198750 titled 'CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

The patent application describes a control device for a vehicle that includes a carrier, an active suspension, a road surface information obtaining device, and a controller.

  • The carrier is installed on the vehicle and holds an occupant or object to be conveyed.
  • The active suspension is located between the carrier and the vehicle body, controlling the force between them.
  • The road surface information obtaining device gathers data on the displacement of the road surface in the up-down direction.
  • The controller uses the road surface information to calculate the vibration state of the vehicle body and the corresponding-position state amount for the carrier.
  • The controller then adjusts the active suspension based on the corresponding-position state amount.

Potential Applications: - Improved comfort and stability for occupants in vehicles. - Enhanced control over the vehicle's suspension system. - Increased safety and efficiency in transportation systems.

Problems Solved: - Minimizing vibrations and impacts from uneven road surfaces. - Providing a smoother and more controlled ride experience. - Optimizing the vehicle's suspension performance based on real-time road conditions.

Benefits: - Enhanced comfort and safety for vehicle occupants. - Improved handling and stability on various road surfaces. - Efficient utilization of the active suspension system.

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Vehicle Suspension Control System This technology can be utilized in the automotive industry for passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, and public transportation systems. It can also be integrated into autonomous vehicles to enhance ride quality and safety.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the active suspension system improve the overall ride experience for vehicle occupants? 2. What are the potential cost implications of implementing this advanced control device in vehicles?

Original Abstract Submitted

a control device for a vehicle includes: a carrier installed on the vehicle and on which an occupant or an object to be conveyed is placed; an active suspension disposed between the carrier and the vehicle body and capable of controlling a force that acts between the carrier and the vehicle body; a road surface information obtaining device configured to obtain road surface information that is information on a displacement in an up-down direction of a road surface on which a predetermined subject wheel is scheduled to travel; and a controller configured to control the active suspension. the controller calculates a vibration state of the vehicle body based on the road surface information, calculates, based on the vibration state, a corresponding-position state amount indicating the vibration state of a portion of the vehicle body corresponding to the carrier, and controls the active suspension based on the corresponding-position state amount.
