VEHICLE DISPLAY CONTROL DEVICE, VEHICLE DISPLAY CONTROL METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY RECORDING MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240190247 titled 'VEHICLE DISPLAY CONTROL DEVICE, VEHICLE DISPLAY CONTROL METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY RECORDING MEDIUM

The present disclosure describes a vehicle display control device that forms an augmented reality (AR) image in the shape of a dividing line of a lane where the vehicle is traveling, using sensor data to recognize the line. The device determines the length of the AR image based on the reliability of the sensor's detection result.

  • The device forms an AR image that matches the shape of the lane's dividing line, enhancing the driver's visual cues.
  • It uses sensor data to accurately recognize the dividing line and adjust the AR image accordingly.
  • The device calculates the length of the AR image based on the reliability of the sensor's detection, ensuring accurate information is displayed to the driver.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in vehicle heads-up displays to provide drivers with clear visual guidance on lane positioning.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the challenge of accurately displaying lane information in a way that is easily understandable to the driver.

Benefits: Enhances driver awareness of lane positioning Improves safety by providing clear visual cues Reduces the risk of lane departure incidents

Commercial Applications: This technology can be utilized in automotive industry for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to enhance driver safety and improve overall driving experience.

Prior Art: Prior research in the field of AR displays in vehicles can provide insights into similar technologies and approaches.

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on advancements in AR technology for automotive applications to enhance the capabilities of this device.

Questions about Vehicle Display Control Device: 1. How does the device determine the length of the AR image displayed to the driver? The device calculates the length based on the reliability of the sensor's detection result. 2. What are the potential safety benefits of using this technology in vehicles? This technology enhances driver awareness and reduces the risk of lane departure incidents.

Original Abstract Submitted

the present disclosure provides a vehicle display control device including a processor and an image forming section configured to form an ar image having a shape that conforms to a dividing line of a lane in which a vehicle travels, using information from a sensor that recognizes the dividing line, wherein the processor is configured to control the image forming section so as to form the ar image, and determine a length, in an extension direction of the lane, of the ar image that the image forming section is caused to form, based on a reliability of a detection result of the sensor.
