CONNECTION DEVICE USING CONNECTOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240186745 titled 'CONNECTION DEVICE USING CONNECTOR
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a connection device with a protective tube that covers electrical wires and terminal fittings, providing a secure and organized connection.
- Connector with wire insertion holes for electrical wires and terminal fittings
- Lead wire and dummy wire inserted in the wire insertion holes
- Protective tube covering the lead wire and dummy wire, except for the end portions
- U-shaped curved end portion of the dummy wire exposed from the protective tube
Potential Applications
The technology could be applied in various industries where secure and organized electrical connections are required, such as automotive, aerospace, and electronics manufacturing.
Problems Solved
This technology solves the problem of protecting electrical wires and terminal fittings from damage or disconnection, ensuring a reliable and long-lasting connection.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include improved safety, reliability, and efficiency in electrical connections, as well as easier maintenance and troubleshooting.
Potential Commercial Applications
The technology could be commercialized for use in electrical connectors, wiring harnesses, and other electrical systems, offering a competitive advantage in terms of performance and durability.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art could be traditional wire connectors with no protective tube, leaving the wires exposed to potential damage or disconnection.
Unanswered Questions
How does the protective tube enhance the durability of the electrical connection?
The protective tube acts as a barrier against external elements that could potentially damage the wires or terminal fittings, ensuring a longer lifespan for the connection.
What materials are commonly used for the protective tube in similar applications?
Common materials used for protective tubes in similar applications include heat-resistant plastics, rubber, or silicone, chosen for their durability and flexibility in various environments.
Original Abstract Submitted
a connection device includes a connector provided with wire insertion holes receiving end portions of electrical wires and terminal fittings connected to the end portions. the electrical wires include a lead wire and a dummy wire. one end of the lead wire is inserted in the wire insertion holes while another end of the lead wire is connected to another connector. one end and another end of the dummy wire are inserted in empty ones of the wire insertion holes. a protective tube, which is shorter than the lead wire, is provided between the connector and the other connector, so as to extend over an entire length of the lead wire except opposite end portions of the lead wire and so as to cover the lead wire and the dummy wire. a u-shaped curved end portion of the dummy wire is exposed from an end portion of the protective tube.
