CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE AND CONTROL METHOD FOR VEHICLE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240182021 titled 'CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE AND CONTROL METHOD FOR VEHICLE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a control device for a vehicle that can adjust the steering torque output based on different predetermined gains, and includes a feature that reduces the steering torque output before switching to a different control mode.

  • The control device can output steering torque based on two different predetermined gains.
  • It calculates a predicted start time for switching between control modes.
  • A reduction control is executed to bring the steering torque closer to zero before switching control modes.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in various vehicles, such as cars, trucks, and autonomous vehicles, to improve steering control and safety features.

Problems Solved

1. Enhances steering control by adjusting torque output based on different gains. 2. Improves safety by reducing steering torque before switching control modes.

Benefits

1. Increased precision in steering control. 2. Enhanced safety features for vehicles. 3. Improved overall driving experience.

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimizing steering control systems for vehicles in the automotive industry.

Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to steering control systems in vehicles, but specific examples are not provided in the abstract.

Unanswered Questions

What is the specific technology used to calculate the predicted start time for switching control modes?

The abstract mentions the calculation of a predicted start time, but it does not specify the technology or method used for this calculation.

How does the reduction control function to bring the steering torque closer to zero before switching control modes?

While the abstract mentions a reduction control feature, it does not detail how this function operates or the specific mechanisms involved.

Original Abstract Submitted

a control device for a vehicle configured to execute a first control for outputting a steering torque based on a predetermined first gain and a second control for outputting a steering torque based on a predetermined second gain different from the first gain, wherein during execution of the first control, a predicted start time, which is a predicted time until the start condition of the second control is satisfied, is calculated, and when the start predicted time satisfies the predetermined condition, a reduction control for bringing the output steering torque of the first control closer to 0 is executed before starting the second control.
