INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240159547 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The driving assistance apparatus described in the patent application is an information processing apparatus that helps users navigate routes efficiently. Here is a simplified explanation of the patent application:

  • The driving assistance apparatus stores information on rectangular sections partitioning a map and location information on spots on the map.
  • It extracts a pair of adjacent points from a route and identifies the smallest rectangular area including these points.
  • The apparatus provides the user with information on a spot included in a search area based on the smallest rectangular area.

Original Abstract Submitted

a driving assistance apparatus is an information processing apparatus. the driving assistance apparatus includes a memory and a controller. the memory is configured to store information on a plurality of rectangular sections partitioning a map and location information on a plurality of spots on the map. the controller is configured to extract a pair of adjacent points from among a departure point, a destination point, and at least one transit point on a route from the departure point to the destination point, and identify a smallest rectangular area including the pair of adjacent points, among rectangular areas configured to include at least one of the sections. the controller is configured to determine to provide a user with information on, out of the plurality of spots, a spot included in a search area based on the smallest rectangular area.
