NETWORK SLICING BASED VPLMN PRIORITIZATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240284320 titled 'NETWORK SLICING BASED VPLMN PRIORITIZATION

Simplified Explanation: The patent application discusses systems and methods for prioritizing network slicing based on visited or non-public networks in a roaming scenario for wireless communication devices.

  • The method involves obtaining Steering of Roaming (SoR) information for the device, which includes a prioritized list of networks based on requested network slices and subscriptions.
  • This information is then sent to the wireless communication device to optimize its network connectivity.
  • Various embodiments of network functions, wireless communication devices, and methods of operation are also disclosed in the application.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Prioritization of network slicing based on visited or non-public networks in a roaming scenario.
  • Optimization of network connectivity for wireless communication devices through Steering of Roaming (SoR) information.
  • Enhanced network performance and user experience in different network environments.

Potential Applications: The technology can be applied in telecommunications, mobile networks, and IoT devices to improve network efficiency and user experience.

Problems Solved:

  • Addressing network congestion and performance issues in roaming scenarios.
  • Enhancing network selection and connectivity for wireless communication devices.
  • Improving the overall quality of service for users in diverse network environments.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced network performance and reliability.
  • Improved user experience with optimized network connectivity.
  • Efficient utilization of network resources in roaming scenarios.

Commercial Applications: Potential commercial applications include telecommunications companies, network operators, and device manufacturers looking to enhance network performance and user satisfaction in roaming scenarios.

Prior Art: Research on network slicing, network prioritization, and roaming optimization in wireless communication devices can provide insights into similar technologies and approaches.

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on advancements in network slicing, network optimization, and roaming technologies to leverage the latest innovations in wireless communication networks.

Questions about Network Slicing Based Visited or Non-Public Network Prioritization: 1. How does network slicing optimization benefit wireless communication devices in roaming scenarios? 2. What are the key factors considered in prioritizing visited or non-public networks for network slicing in the disclosed method?

Original Abstract Submitted

systems and methods are disclosed for network slicing based visited or non-public network prioritization. in one embodiment, a method performed by a first network function (nf) in a home network of a wireless communication device in a roaming scenario comprises obtaining steering of roaming (sor) information for the wireless communication device, the sor information comprising a prioritized list of visited or non-public networks that are prioritized based on one or more network slices requested by the wireless communication device and/or one or more network slices to which the wireless communication device is subscribed. the method further comprises sending, towards the wireless communication device, a message comprising the sor information. embodiments of a first nf, embodiments of a second nf in the visited or non-public network and methods of operation thereof, and embodiments of a wireless communication device and method of operation thereof are also disclosed.
