Handling Configurations in Source Integrated Access Backhaul (IAB) Donor during Temporary Topology Adaptations - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240187953 titled 'Handling Configurations in Source Integrated Access Backhaul (IAB) Donor during Temporary Topology Adaptations
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes methods for a source donor centralized unit (CU) in an integrated access backhaul (IAB) wireless network, including offloading traffic between the source donor CU and a top-level IAB node to a target donor CU.
- Determining the need to offload traffic between the source donor CU and the top-level IAB node.
- Sending a first indication to descendant nodes of the source donor CU that configurations for traffic are suspended during migration of the top-level IAB node.
- Complementary methods for the target donor CU and the IAB node are also included in the embodiments.
- Potential Applications
This technology could be applied in wireless networks to optimize traffic flow and improve network efficiency.
- Problems Solved
The technology solves the problem of efficiently managing traffic between different nodes in a wireless network.
- Benefits
The benefits of this technology include improved network performance, reduced congestion, and enhanced overall network reliability.
- Potential Commercial Applications
Potential commercial applications include telecommunications companies, network infrastructure providers, and other industries that rely on wireless networks for data transmission.
- Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art could be methods for traffic offloading in wireless networks, but the specific approach described in this patent application may be novel.
- What are the potential impacts of this technology on existing wireless networks?
The potential impacts of this technology on existing wireless networks could include improved network performance, reduced congestion, and more efficient traffic management.
- How does this technology compare to existing methods of traffic offloading in wireless networks?
This technology appears to offer a more centralized and coordinated approach to traffic offloading in wireless networks, which may result in better overall network optimization and performance.
Original Abstract Submitted
embodiments include methods for a source donor centralized unit (cu) in an integrated access backhaul (iab) wireless network. such methods include determining that traffic between the source donor cu and a top-level iab node in the wireless network needs to be offloaded to a target donor cu in the wireless network. such methods include sending, to one or more descendant nodes of the source donor cu, a first indication that at least one configuration for traffic between the source donor cu and at least one iab node is suspended, in association with migration of the top-level iab node from the source donor cu to the target donor cu. other embodiments include complementary methods for a target donor cu and for an iab node, as well as cus and iab nodes configured to perform such methods.
