there is provided an imaging device and an imaging method that can perform imaging while appropriately adjusting each of exposure of sdr video and exposure of hdr video. the imaging device includes: an sdr signal processing unit configured to generate sdr video on the basis of a video signal output from an imaging element; an hdr signal processing unit configured to generate hdr video on the basis of the video signal; an sdr/hdr exposure adjusting unit configured to adjust each of exposure of the sdr video and exposure of the hdr video; an sdr exposure adjusting unit configured to adjust only the exposure of the sdr video; an sdr recording unit on which the sdr video is recorded; an hdr recording unit on which the hdr video is recorded; and a display unit configured to display sdr exposure information about the sdr video and hdr exposure information about the hdr video together with the sdr video and the hdr video. the present technology can be applied to, for example, a camera capable of simultaneously producing sdr video and hdr video.
