PROJECTOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240210809 titled 'PROJECTOR

The patent application describes a projector with a unique design involving a light source, a fresnel lens group, polarizers, a light modulator, and a projection lens.

  • The projector includes a light source, a fresnel lens group, polarizers, a light modulator, and a projection lens.
  • The fresnel lens group consists of multiple fresnel lenses, with the first lens closest to the light source having positive power.
  • The first fresnel lens does not have a fresnel surface on the light incident side but has one on the light exiting side.

Potential Applications: This technology could be used in various projection systems, such as in home theaters, classrooms, and business presentations.

Problems Solved: The design of this projector addresses issues related to beam parallelization, beam modulation, and image projection with improved efficiency and clarity.

Benefits: The benefits of this technology include enhanced image quality, improved light transmission, and more precise beam control for better projection outcomes.

Commercial Applications: This technology could be valuable for companies manufacturing projectors, as well as for businesses and individuals looking to upgrade their projection systems for better performance.

Questions about the Technology: 1. How does the use of multiple fresnel lenses in the projector improve image quality? 2. What advantages does the design of the first fresnel lens offer in terms of beam control and light transmission?

Original Abstract Submitted

a projector includes a light source, a fresnel lens group parallelizing the beam output from the light source, a light-incident-side polarizer transmitting the beam having exited out of the fresnel lens group, a light modulator modulating the beam having passed through the light-incident-side polarizer to form a projection image, a light-exiting-side polarizer transmitting the beam modulated by the light modulator, and a projection lens projecting the beam having passed through the light-exiting-side polarizer. the fresnel lens group includes a plurality of fresnel lenses. the first fresnel lens, which is disposed at a position closest to the light source in the fresnel lens group, has positive power. the light incident surface of the first fresnel lens does not have a fresnel surface. the light exiting surface of the first fresnel lens has a fresnel surface.
