WELLBORE CHEMICAL INJECTION WITH TUBING SPOOL SIDE EXTENSION FLANGE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240301766 titled 'WELLBORE CHEMICAL INJECTION WITH TUBING SPOOL SIDE EXTENSION FLANGE

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a wellbore chemical injection assembly that allows for the injection of chemicals into a wellbore through a tubing spool in a wellhead.

  • The assembly includes an extension flange with two ends connected by a flange wall, with an inlet at one end for connection to the tubing spool inlet and a fluidic outlet at the other end for connection to the wellhead.
  • An extension member is attached to the flange wall at the inlet, with a through opening of increasing inner diameter towards the end of the extension member.
  • Valves of varying sizes are seated in the through opening to seal it as the diameter increases, allowing for controlled injection of chemicals from a reservoir into the tubing spool.

Potential Applications: 1. Oil and gas drilling operations 2. Well stimulation and treatment processes 3. Enhanced oil recovery techniques

Problems Solved: 1. Efficient and controlled chemical injection into wellbores 2. Improved wellbore maintenance and treatment processes

Benefits: 1. Enhanced well productivity 2. Reduced environmental impact 3. Increased operational efficiency

Commercial Applications: The technology can be utilized by oil and gas companies, well service providers, and chemical manufacturers to improve wellbore maintenance and production processes.

Questions about Wellbore Chemical Injection Assembly: 1. How does the assembly improve the efficiency of chemical injection in wellbores? 2. What are the potential environmental benefits of using this technology in oil and gas operations?

Original Abstract Submitted

a wellbore chemical injection assembly includes an extension flange including two ends joined by a flange wall defining an inlet. the first end can fluidically couple to a tubing spool inlet of a wellhead installed at a wellbore surface. the second end can fluidically couple to a fluidic outlet of the wellhead. an extension member is attached to the flange wall at the inlet at a non-zero angle. an axial length of the extension member defines a through opening of increasing inner diameter from the inlet towards an end of the extension member. the end can be fluidically coupled to a chemical reservoir from which chemical is injected through the extension member and the extension flange into the tubing spool. multiple valves are seated in the through opening of the extension member. the multiple valves are sized differently to seal the through opening of increasing diameter.
