IMAGE SENSOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240321930 titled 'IMAGE SENSOR
Simplified Explanation: The image sensor described in the patent application consists of two substrates with a wiring layer in between, floating diffusion regions in each substrate, and through electrodes connecting them.
- The image sensor includes a first substrate with a surface for light to enter and a second substrate facing the first substrate.
- A wiring layer with an insulating layer and conductive structure is located between the two substrates.
- A first floating diffusion region is present in the first substrate, while a second floating diffusion region is in the second substrate.
- A first through electrode penetrates the second substrate, connecting to the first floating diffusion region, and a landing pad on the bottom surface of the second substrate connects to the second floating diffusion region.
Key Features and Innovation:
- Dual-substrate design for the image sensor.
- Wiring layer with insulating and conductive components.
- Floating diffusion regions in each substrate.
- Through electrodes and landing pad for electrical connections.
