ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING PIXELS CORRESPONDING TO SENSOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240194104 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING PIXELS CORRESPONDING TO SENSOR

The abstract of a patent application describes an example electronic device with a flexible display, two housings, a hinge structure, and sensors that can detect changes in angles to activate or deactivate specific pixels on the display.

  • The electronic device includes a flexible display, allowing for unique form factors and functionalities.
  • The hinge structure enables the device to change angles between the two housings, triggering the activation or deactivation of specific pixels.
  • Sensors in the housings detect these angle changes, allowing for precise control over the display.
  • The processor in the device processes this information to selectively activate or deactivate pixels based on the angle of the device.

Potential Applications: This technology could be used in foldable smartphones, tablets, or wearable devices to enhance user interactions and display capabilities.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the challenge of adapting display content based on the physical orientation of the device, providing a more dynamic user experience.

Benefits: Users can enjoy a more versatile and interactive display experience with the ability to control pixel activation based on the device's angle.

Commercial Applications: This technology could revolutionize the design and functionality of consumer electronics, leading to innovative products with flexible displays and adaptive pixel control.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the device differentiate between different angles to activate or deactivate specific pixels? 2. What are the potential limitations of using sensors to detect angle changes for pixel control?

Original Abstract Submitted

an example electronic device includes a flexible display, a first housing, a second housing, a hinge structure, a first region, and a display region including a second region surrounding the first region, a first sensor, a second sensor in the first housing, and a processor. the processor is configured to identify an angle change between the first surface of the first housing and the third surface of the second housing from a first angle to a second angle, identify a second set of pixels among the pixels in the first region corresponding to the second angle from reference data, deactivate the second set of identified pixels, and activate the remaining pixels except for the second set of pixels.
