METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PERFORMING A NETWORK SLICE SPECIFIC AUTHENTICATION AUTHORIZATION PROCEDURE FOR A NETWORK SLICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240163665 titled 'METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PERFORMING A NETWORK SLICE SPECIFIC AUTHENTICATION AUTHORIZATION PROCEDURE FOR A NETWORK SLICE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method for performing a Network Slice Specific Authentication Authorization (NSSAA) procedure for a network slice. The method involves determining the success of the NSSAA procedure through a first Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) and skipping the procedure for a second AMF if successful.

  • Network Slice Specific Authentication Authorization (NSSAA) procedure for a network slice
  • Determining success of NSSAA procedure through first AMF
  • Skipping NSSAA procedure for second AMF if successful
  • Deleting Network Slice Selection Assistance Information (NSSAI) from allowed list if NSSAA procedure is unsuccessful

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in telecommunications networks to enhance security and access control for network slices.

Problems Solved

1. Improved authentication and authorization for network slices 2. Efficient management of network slice selection assistance information

Benefits

1. Enhanced security for network slices 2. Streamlined access control procedures 3. Optimal resource allocation within network slices

Potential Commercial Applications

Enhanced security solutions for telecommunications providers Improved network management tools for optimizing resource allocation

Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to network slice authentication and authorization procedures in telecommunications networks, but specific examples are not provided in the abstract.

Unanswered Questions

How does this method compare to existing authentication and authorization procedures for network slices?

The article does not provide a direct comparison to existing methods, leaving the reader to wonder about the specific advantages of this approach over others.

What are the potential limitations or challenges in implementing this NSSAA procedure in real-world networks?

The abstract does not address any potential obstacles or challenges that may arise when implementing this method in actual telecommunications networks.

Original Abstract Submitted

a method for performing a network slice specific authentication authorization (nssaa) procedure for a network slice is disclosed. the method includes performing, by a network slice specific authentication and authorization function (nssaaf), an nssaa procedure through a first access and mobility management function (amf) selected amongst the first amf and a second amf. the method includes determining, by the nssaaf whether the ns saa procedure through the first amf is successful or not. the method includes performing by the nssaaf, one of skipping the nssaa procedure for the second amf in response to determining that the nssaa procedure is successful for the first amf transmitting a message to the second amf for deleting network slice selection assistance information (nssai) related to the network slice from an allowed list of network slices in response to determining that the nssaa procedure is unsuccessful for the first amf.
