DISPLAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240321147 titled 'DISPLAY APPARATUS

The patent application describes a display with a unique design featuring a first shaft and a second shaft combined to create a groove for inserting a base layer.

  • The first shaft extends in one direction with a cross-section that includes a part of a circle on a plane perpendicular to the direction.
  • The second shaft extends in the same direction and forms a groove with the first shaft.
  • The base layer includes a dummy area and a support area, with a portion of the dummy area inserted into the groove.
  • A display module is placed on the support area of the base layer.
  • The outer surfaces of the first and second shafts create a continuous surface where they contact each other.
  • The length from the contact portion to the outer edge of the second shaft defining the groove is shorter than the length to the outer edge of the first shaft defining the groove.

Potential Applications: - This display design could be used in various electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops. - It could also be applied in automotive displays or other consumer electronics.

Problems Solved: - The design provides a secure and aesthetically pleasing way to integrate a display module into a device. - It allows for efficient use of space and a sleek overall appearance.

Benefits: - Improved structural integrity of the display assembly. - Enhanced visual appeal with a seamless surface design. - Simplified manufacturing process for electronic devices.

Commercial Applications: - The technology could be of interest to manufacturers of electronic devices looking to enhance the design and functionality of their products.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the unique design of the display improve the overall user experience? 2. What are the potential cost implications of implementing this display design in electronic devices?

Original Abstract Submitted

a display including a first shaft extending in one direction and having a cross-section including a part of a circle on a plane perpendicular to the direction, a second shaft extending in the direction and combined with the first shaft such that a groove extending in the direction is defined therebetween, a base layer including a dummy area and a support area adjoining the dummy area with a portion of the dummy area inserted into the groove, and a display module on the support area, where outer surfaces of the first and second shafts form a continuous surface at a portion where the first shaft contacts the second shaft, and a length from the portion to an outer of a part of the second shaft defining the groove is less than a length from the portion to an outer of a part of the first shaft defining the groove.
