DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240231467 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

The display device described in the patent application includes a display panel with a pixel connected to a data line, a power management circuit with a first voltage generating circuit, a first voltage converter, and a second voltage converter, as well as a driving controller.

  • The first voltage generating circuit generates a first driving voltage for the data driver in normal mode.
  • The first voltage converter generates a parking voltage lower than the first driving voltage for the data driver in low power mode.
  • The second voltage converter generates a second driving voltage for the data driver in low power mode.
  • The driving controller receives input image data and controls the data driver and power management circuit.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in various display devices such as smartphones, tablets, and monitors. - It can also be applied in automotive displays and wearable technology.

Problems Solved: - Efficient power management in display devices. - Enhanced control over driving voltages for optimal performance.

Benefits: - Improved energy efficiency. - Extended battery life for portable devices. - Enhanced display performance in low power mode.

Commercial Applications: "Advanced Power Management System for Display Devices: Enhancing Performance and Efficiency" This technology can be utilized by manufacturers of electronic devices to improve the energy efficiency and overall performance of their products, leading to increased consumer satisfaction and potentially higher sales.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the power management circuit optimize energy consumption in the display device? 2. What are the key advantages of using different driving voltages in normal and low power modes?

Original Abstract Submitted

a display device comprises a display panel including a pixel connected to a data line, a power management circuit including a first voltage generating circuit which generates a first driving voltage and provides the first driving voltage to a data driver in a normal mode, a first voltage converter which generates a parking voltage less than the first driving voltage and provides the parking voltage to the data driver in a low power mode, and a second voltage converter which generates a second driving voltage and provides the second driving voltage to the data driver in the low power mode, and a driving controller configured to receive input image data and to control the data driver and the power management circuit. the data driver provides a data voltage to the data line in the normal mode and provides the parking voltage to the data line in the low power mode.
