DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF FABRICATING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240213275 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF FABRICATING THE SAME

The patent application describes a display device with pixel areas, each containing a pixel composed of multiple insulating layers, a power line, a pixel circuit component, and an emission component.

  • The pixel consists of first to fifth insulating layers, a power line, a transistor for the pixel circuit component, and alignment electrodes for the emission component.
  • The emission component includes first, second, and third alignment electrodes, along with a light emitting element.
  • At least one of the insulating layers is made of inorganic material and is located under the alignment electrodes.

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be used in the development of high-resolution displays for various electronic devices.
  • It could also find applications in the manufacturing of energy-efficient and visually appealing screens for smartphones, tablets, and other gadgets.

Problems Solved:

  • The technology addresses the need for improved display quality and efficiency in electronic devices.
  • It also solves the challenge of integrating multiple components within a pixel area while maintaining optimal performance.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced display performance with improved brightness and color accuracy.
  • Energy efficiency due to the optimized design of the pixel components.
  • Potential for thinner and lighter display devices with increased durability.

Commercial Applications:

  • "Advanced Display Technology for Next-Generation Devices: Enhancing Visual Experiences and Energy Efficiency"

Questions about the Technology: 1. How does the inorganic insulating layer contribute to the overall performance of the display device? 2. What are the specific advantages of having alignment electrodes in the emission component of the pixel?

Original Abstract Submitted

a display device may include pixel areas each including a first area and a second area; and a pixel in each pixel area. the pixel may include first to fifth insulating layers stacked on a substrate; a power line on the substrate; a pixel circuit component provided in the first area, and including a transistor disposed on the substrate and electrically connected to the power line; and an emission component provided in the second area, and including first, second, and third alignment electrodes disposed on the substrate, and a light emitting element disposed between the first, second, and third alignment electrodes. at least one of the first to the fifth insulating layers may be disposed under the first to the third alignment electrodes and may include an inorganic insulating layer.
