ELECTRONIC DEVICE COMPRISING MULTI-SIM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240276402 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE COMPRISING MULTI-SIM

The abstract describes an electronic device with a modem supporting two different SIM cards for accessing 5G networks of different telecommunications operators. The device has antennas for transmitting signals to the respective base stations of the operators with controlled transmission power to stay within a maximum limit.

  • The electronic device has a modem that supports two SIM cards for accessing 5G networks of different operators.
  • It includes antennas for transmitting signals to the base stations of the operators.
  • The device controls the transmission power of the signals to ensure it does not exceed a predetermined maximum power limit.

Potential Applications: - Dual network connectivity for improved coverage and reliability. - Seamless switching between different operators for better service quality. - Enhanced network performance in areas with overlapping coverage from multiple operators.

Problems Solved: - Addressing the need for reliable connectivity in areas with weak signal strength. - Providing flexibility in choosing between different operators based on network performance. - Optimizing power usage for efficient signal transmission.

Benefits: - Improved network coverage and reliability. - Enhanced user experience with seamless network switching. - Efficient power management for prolonged device battery life.

Commercial Applications: Title: Dual-SIM 5G Device for Enhanced Connectivity This technology can be utilized in smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices to offer users the flexibility of accessing multiple 5G networks simultaneously. It can also be beneficial for IoT devices that require reliable and efficient connectivity.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the device manage the transmission power between the two SIM cards? - The device dynamically adjusts the transmission power based on the network conditions and the proximity to the base stations. 2. What are the advantages of using dual SIM cards for accessing 5G networks? - Dual SIM cards provide users with the flexibility to choose between different operators for better network coverage and service quality.

Original Abstract Submitted

an electronic device includes a modem supporting a first sim for using a service of a 5g network of a first telecommunications operator and a second sim for using a service of a 5g network of a second telecommunications operator, at least one first antenna, and at least one second antenna. the modem may transmit a first signal to a first base station of the first telecommunications operator through the first sim with a first transmission power by using the at least one first antenna, and while the first signal is transmitted with the first transmission power, transmit a second signal to a second base station of the second telecommunications operator through the second sim with a second transmission power by using the at least one second antenna, such that a sum of the first and second transmission powers is less than or equal to a predetermined maximum power.
