CONDITIONAL HYBRID AUTOMATIC REPEAT REQUEST RETRANSMISSION ACROSS CARRIERS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240340109 titled 'CONDITIONAL HYBRID AUTOMATIC REPEAT REQUEST RETRANSMISSION ACROSS CARRIERS

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication, specifically focusing on conditional cross-carrier hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) retransmissions.

  • User equipment (UE) and a network entity can support conditional cross-carrier HARQ retransmissions.
  • The UE can transmit a capability message to the network entity to indicate its ability to support cross-carrier HARQ retransmissions.
  • Messages can be transmitted on a first component carrier and retransmitted on a second component carrier based on resource availability, UE capability, and specific communication conditions.
  • For uplink communications, the UE handles transmitting and conditional retransmitting, while for downlink communications, the network entity takes on these tasks.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Support for conditional cross-carrier HARQ retransmissions in wireless communication systems.
  • Dynamic retransmission based on resource availability and specific communication conditions.
  • Efficient handling of retransmissions for both uplink and downlink communications.

Potential Applications:

  • Mobile communication networks
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Satellite communication systems

Problems Solved:

  • Efficient utilization of resources for retransmissions
  • Improved reliability in wireless communication
  • Enhanced performance in challenging network conditions

Benefits:

  • Increased data transmission reliability
  • Optimal resource management
  • Enhanced user experience in wireless communication

Commercial Applications: Wireless communication providers can integrate this technology into their networks to improve data transmission reliability and overall network performance, leading to better user satisfaction and potentially attracting more customers.

Prior Art: Prior research in wireless communication systems may have explored similar concepts of HARQ retransmissions, but the specific implementation of conditional cross-carrier HARQ retransmissions as described in this patent application may be novel.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers in the field of wireless communication systems may be conducting ongoing studies on resource management strategies for HARQ retransmissions and the impact of cross-carrier retransmissions on network performance.

Questions about Wireless Communication Technology: 1. How does conditional cross-carrier HARQ retransmission improve data transmission reliability in wireless communication systems? 2. What are the key factors that determine when a message should be retransmitted on a different component carrier in wireless communication networks?

Original Abstract Submitted

methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. in some systems, a user equipment (ue) and a network entity may support conditional cross-carrier hybrid automatic repeat request (harq) retransmissions. the ue may transmit a capability message to the network entity to indicate a capability of the ue to support the cross-carrier harq retransmissions. the ue or the network entity may transmit a message on a first component carrier. the ue or the network entity may retransmit the message on a second component carrier based on an availability of resources for retransmitting the message, based on the capability of the ue, and based on one or more conditions associated with communications by the ue satisfying a threshold condition for cross-carrier harq retransmissions. for uplink communications, the ue may perform the transmitting and conditional retransmitting. for downlink communications, the network entity may perform the transmitting and conditional retransmitting.
