BEAM FAILURE RECOVERY FOR MULTIPLE TRANSMIT RECEIVE POINTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240196463 titled 'BEAM FAILURE RECOVERY FOR MULTIPLE TRANSMIT RECEIVE POINTS

The present disclosure pertains to wireless communication, where a user equipment (UE) can detect beam failure and request a new beam for recovery. The UE can reset to the new beam after receiving a response to the recovery request.

  • User equipment (UE) can detect failure of a beam associated with a transmit-receive point (TRP).
  • UE can transmit a recovery request for a new beam, associated with specific physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources.
  • The UE can reset to the new beam after receiving a response to the recovery request.
    • Potential Applications:**

- Wireless communication systems - Mobile networks - Beamforming technologies

    • Problems Solved:**

- Beam failure detection - Beam recovery in wireless communication systems

    • Benefits:**

- Improved reliability in wireless communication - Efficient beam recovery process

    • Commercial Applications:**

Potential commercial uses include telecommunications equipment, mobile devices, and network infrastructure. This innovation could enhance the performance and reliability of wireless communication systems, leading to better user experiences and increased network efficiency.

    • Prior Art:**

Original Abstract Submitted

various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. in some aspects, a user equipment (ue) may detect failure of a beam, where the beam is one of a first beam associated with a first transmit receive point (trp) or a second beam associated with a second trp. the ue may transmit a recovery request that indicates a new beam for a beam reset by the ue, where the new beam is associated with a first group of physical uplink control channel (pucch) resources for the first trp if the beam is the first beam, or associated with a second group of pucch resources for the second trp if the beam is the second beam. the ue may reset the ue to the new beam after receiving a response to the recovery request. numerous other aspects are described.
