RECOVERY MECHANISMS FOR WIRELESS EXTENSION LINKS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240260114 titled 'RECOVERY MECHANISMS FOR WIRELESS EXTENSION LINKS

The patent application discusses methods for link recovery in wireless communication networks, specifically focusing on lost wireless communication links that were initially established using anchor links of different frequency bands.

  • Recovery mechanism implemented to recover "extension" links using associated frequency bands.
  • Enables recovery of millimeter wave extension links without reverting to communication over anchor links.
  • Example: Recovery of a non-standalone millimeter wave basic service set without using sub-7 GHz anchor link.

Potential Applications: - Improving reliability and robustness of wireless communication networks. - Enhancing link recovery capabilities in complex network environments.

Problems Solved: - Addressing the challenge of recovering lost wireless communication links efficiently. - Overcoming limitations of reverting to anchor links for link recovery.

Benefits: - Increased network resilience and reliability. - Enhanced communication performance in challenging environments.

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Wireless Communication Link Recovery Technology Potential commercial uses include telecommunications, IoT devices, and industrial wireless networks. Market implications include improved network uptime and reduced maintenance costs.

Questions about Wireless Communication Link Recovery: 1. How does the recovery mechanism differentiate between different frequency bands for link recovery?

  - The recovery mechanism utilizes frequency band information stored during initial link establishment to differentiate between bands.

2. What are the key advantages of recovering extension links without reverting to anchor links?

  - Recovering extension links without reverting to anchor links reduces latency and improves overall network efficiency.

Original Abstract Submitted

this disclosure provides wireless communication methods, components, devices and systems for link recovery in wireless communication networks. some aspects more specifically relate to the recovery of lost wireless communication links for which initial link establishment has been aided by communications over anchor links of different frequency bands than those of the lost wireless communication links. according to some aspects, a recovery mechanism can be implemented that enables involved devices to recover such “extension” links using communications over their associated frequency bands, without needing to revert to communication over their corresponding anchor links. in some examples, such a recovery mechanism can be implemented to enable recovery of a millimeter wave (mmwave) extension link of a non-standalone mmwave basic service set (bss) without needing to revert to communication over a sub-7 ghz anchor link.
