a communication device includes a first master component and a plurality of slave components. the first master component includes a radio modem to transmit and receive signals, and an antenna communicatively coupled to the radio modem. each slave component comprises a first antenna for wireless communication with an external device by a beamforming operation on a first carrier frequency, and a second antenna for wireless communication with the master component by the beamforming operation on a second carrier frequency. both the first and second antennas are bidirectional and utilize a time-duplexing operation to transmit and receive signals. each slave component is further configured to transmit and receive first signals to and from the external device via the first antenna and first carrier frequency, and transmit and receive second signals to and from the master component via the second antenna and second carrier frequency, both through the beamforming operations.
