DUAL VIEW VEHICLE DISPLAY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240262193 titled 'DUAL VIEW VEHICLE DISPLAY

The patent application describes systems and methods for providing a dual-view display for a vehicle with an autonomous driving system. The autonomous driving system monitors the vehicle's environment, senses conditions, and determines vehicle responses, including automated actions. Condition-associated data is provided to a dual-view display system, which generates notifications for the operator and external communication with other road users.

  • Autonomous driving system monitors vehicle environment and determines responses to conditions.
  • Dual-view display system provides notifications to the operator and external communication with other road users.
  • Transparent display serves as an operator interface for vehicle perception/intention communication.
  • External human-machine interface communicates vehicle perception/intention to other road users.
  • Enhances safety and communication in autonomous driving scenarios.

Potential Applications: - Autonomous vehicles - Transportation systems - Automotive safety technology

Problems Solved: - Improving communication between autonomous vehicles and human operators - Enhancing safety and awareness on the road

Benefits: - Increased safety on the road - Improved communication between vehicles and road users - Enhanced user experience in autonomous driving scenarios

Commercial Applications: Title: "Enhanced Communication System for Autonomous Vehicles" This technology can be applied in the automotive industry for autonomous vehicles, transportation systems, and safety technology. It has the potential to revolutionize how vehicles interact with their environment and other road users, leading to safer and more efficient transportation systems.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the dual-view display system enhance communication in autonomous driving scenarios? 2. What are the potential implications of this technology on the automotive industry and transportation systems?

Original Abstract Submitted

systems and methods for providing a dual view display for a vehicle including an autonomous driving system. the autonomous driving system may monitor an environment in which the vehicle is operating, sense a condition in the environment, and determine a vehicle response to the condition including one or more automated vehicle actions. condition-associated data including information about the sensed/perceived condition and/or the one or more corresponding automated vehicle actions to the condition may be provided to a dual view display system. the dual view display system may determine a notification corresponding to the perceived condition and/or the automated vehicle intention and cause the notification to be displayed on a transparent display. the transparent display provides an operator interface to communicate the vehicle perception/intention to the vehicle operator. the transparent display further provides an external human-machine interface (ehmi) to communicate the vehicle perception/intention to other road users.
